Tasty with lots of meat but a little greasy. I'd recommend the Chicken Shish Kabob Pita.
(3)B. A.
Chicken on pita really good! The chicken is flavorful and juicy. The house sauce compliments it just right.
(4)Paula B.
Chicken kabob is excellent. Huge portions. Good prices.
(4)Colleen R.
By Far the Best Gyros and Kabobs on the south side. The sauce is the amazing. Every time I walk in I get great service and great food. If there is a wait, it is always short...and worth it. If you aren't close to the area its worth a day trip. There is a nice out door eating area in the summer and plenty of seating inside as well. ENJOY!
(5)Randy B.
The absolute best gyros! The chicken philly is also great, along with the Greek salad. The staff are always friendly, and the dining room is always clean. More places should look to this as an example of how to run a business!
(5)John G.
Top of its class!
(4)Bradley R.
To me this is the best gyro in the south burbs. I know many people do not like the sweet sauce however I happen to like it better than what you will get at most of the other gyro restaurants in the area. I have also tried many other things on the menu and everything is always fresh and hot when you get it. Price point is pretty good for what you get and I think you ll be happy with your choice.

"Ariston means the best."
(5)Roland J.
Best gyros in the south suburbs!!!! Friendly staff, clean dining area, and delicious food.
(5)Carmen C.
I've been eating gyros here for 26 years! YES! Since I was a lil' girl. The best gyro sauce I have EVER tasted, pita toasted just right, meat is flavorful. Seriously the best gyro I've ever tasted.
(5)Jef B.
Yeah, this is where we always go for gyros. The dining room is always warm and clean, so we usually eat there. This is where the theater kids from Homewood-Flossmoor High School hang out; it's just down the street from the school. We found out about it from my step-daughter Melissa and have been going there since.
(4)Candace M.
Best gyros in the South Suburbs. If you want a good gyro, this is the place to go!
(5)Don B.
good reliable food, nothing that really blows your mind but Great hot dogs, great hamburgers. The combos are great with a little Greek salad and a pita, fries and some gyro or shishkabob. The chicken is OK, The subs aren't all that great and I thought the tacos were awful , but what a fool I was to buy a taco here anyhow, For that its better to got Burrito Express in Homewood, or La Pasadita on Ashland in Chicago mmmm
(4)Cheryl H.
Delicious gyros and hot dogs. Even the salad is fresh. Love the fact that they have a drive-thru. Friendly service too!

I'm back, but not too excited. Why? I was not impressed with Ariston's. I believe that Ariston's means "the BEST" (paraphrasing) and I don't see how. First, they are high! My husband and I went here for a quick bite to eat on a Saturday night. He ordered a Philly steak(I think that it was like $5 or $6 bucks) and I ordered a hot dog with cheese fries($6 !!!).Plus,a drink your are easily spending $10 bucks. They don't offer any combo's(that sucks cause at other restaurants they offer combos to make you spend more and in return you get a little discount) for any of their menu options. The Philly was not all that. The steak was not cut up small enough,it was on the rough side, and it was too greasy. The only plus was that it was fresh. Now,for my meal. I was upset because at Aristons they don't just charge you for cheese to your fries and add it on the fries they make you order an order of cheese fries which was like $3 bucks and don't give you enough(Uggh,I really like me some cheese fries) and my fries were fried soft. Lastly noticed that the workers do everything in the kitchen with out using glove's(eewww)! I guess the statement "to each is own" is true because I have to say, that I don't have the same prerogative as my other fellow yelpers! do,but maybe I'll go back ,if some nice friend of mine wants to treat me.

Granted, it's been awhile since I have patronized this place but this will be my last visit. Ordered a gyro and cheese fries... Generally any gyro I've EVER ordered from ANYWHERE will slice then grill, the meat before just throwing on the pita-they didn't. Fries were not cooked entirely and the cheese was the nasty orange kind and they had the NERVE to be stingy! Lol Called about the fries and the guy asked me to bring them back. When I did, he examined and touched them insisting they were cooked so in lieu of an argument I requested "crispy" fries (like, who eats soggy half done fries!?) Upon giving me my fries the manager walks up to eyeball me along with the handoff guy as if I'm being personally inventoried. I was like, "don't trip boo, you won't see me no mo" I'm not even about to eat these fries but on G.P. they should have done right the first time. Ariston's used to be the only greasy bag joint in the area, but thanks to the Super Walmart, I can get better food, service and pay less at one of those joints in that mall. No Bueno!

This place is great. Been there for years since I was a kid. 4 stars

Reviews are good guidelines but what if your tastes are different from the reviewers? There are many places in this area to get a gyro. I looked at Yelp to help me decide which one to eat at and I ended up here based the great reviews. I like a cucumber- yogurt tzatziki sauce with a slight garlic aroma and some dill or mint notes. This "award winning" sauce is SWEET! Tastes like ranch dressing. . . cheap ranch dressing. No yogurt, no sour cream flavor, just an overwhelming sugary yelch poured over my gyro with a heavy hand. If you end up here wondering if you're going to like this sauce, get it on the side. Then you can decide how much you want to dump on your gyro! If I could get past the god awful sweetness of this sauce I might still have appreciated it because the meat was dry and tasteless. Not dry with crispy edges, just dry. I don't get it. Add some fattier cuts of meat to the mix. I want that juice running down my wrist! One of the reviewers had mentioned the pita being perfectly toasted. Unfortunately that wasn't my experience. I would have appreciated my pita placed on a hotter grill or a little more time on the grill. If you want it toasted, ask specifically. My pita was warm but not toasted. On the up side, the pita was generously filled with meat and the staff was friendly and efficient. The lobby area was clean and if I had liked the flavors of the gyro I would say I had received good value for the money. I also ordered a Greek salad. It was not horrible but I would not recommend it. With so many other choices for gyro in the area, I cannot recommend Ariston's gyros.

Asked for well done was not, sauce was sick tasted like ranch dressing , glad i dont live down here !
(1)CarMar ..
everything I've tried here has been good. The Greek Salad with Chicken is LOADED with tasty fresh grilled chicken. The Chicken Shishkebob is another fav, it comes with a pita and a delicious creamy sauce. Everyone I know who I've sent here got the Chicken Shiskebob and fell in love. I'm trying their Chicken Gyros today with Hot Giadenera peppers !
(5)Janice F.
I really like the gyros they serve, their sauce is sweet; not the typical sauce you receive at other places. I tried the chicken gyro and was really disappointed. The chicken was very dry and it did not have a good flavor to it. Service was fine and the wait in the drive thru was very short. I will definitely be back for the Gyro but Will never again order a chicken gyro.
(3)Dia R.
Greasy spoon... although I enjoyed my gyro, the cucumber sauce is not authentic... its like ranch dressing.
(3)Mark E.
I stopped here based on the Yelp! Recommendations since I was in the area and hungry. I had a taste for gyros and was directed here. I ordered the gyro plate and my girlfriend ordered the Gyro panini...the gyro was adequate, fries we crispy and it was also served with a Greeks salad. The salad was drenched in Italian dressing but fine. My girlfriend really enjoyed the Panini which is NOT a true Panini...but a gryo sandwich topped with an added pita bread and tossed in a panini iron. I give it three stars cuz if I am in the area again I'll stop by but no way in hades am I making a special trip out here...too many places closer to me that are better.

Best dogs, italian beef, gyros in the S Suburbs. Why look elsewhere?
(5)Emily C.
Chicken and lamb gyros are fantastic! Pork shiskebob is a favorite! Real Vienna beef hot dogs, burgers, and chicken are all fantastic too! The fries are great. Bring your own Heinz ketchup. The Greek salad and baklava are good as well! Very accommodating pleasant staff. Dine in for at least 30 people or Drive-Thru.
(5)William B.
Fantastic gyros! Their tzatziki sauce is ridiculous! I don't know of a better sauce, from here to Greek Town. Their drive-thru etiquette is up to par, though I've never eaten inside. It's a once in a great while, diet breaker and worth every bite!
(5)Nuala M.
Ariston is wonderful. So awesome, in fact, that I was there three times over the last week. The gyros, with their home made tzatziki sauce, are phenomenal. The hot dogs are perfection. The fries are fluffy, crisp and delicious. The mozzarella sticks are top notch. Although the decor is now a little dated, the dining room is spotlessly clean. Be warned, though - you *will* dream about their gyros long after you have finished one. Highly recommended!

I've now been to Ariston three times, and have never been disappointed. They have an enormous menu that includes gyros, hot dogs, burgers, Italian beef, tacos, burritos, salads, and probably some other stuff that I can't remember! Everything is reasonably priced, and my wife and I are able to have a nice meal here for only about $15. So far, I've had the hot dogs and the gyros, both of which are top notch. The gyros are especially excellent, with the best tzatziki I've ever had anywhere. The menu boasts that the sauce is "award-winning," and I can definitely see why. It's perfect, with just a hint of sweetness that really brings out the spices in the gyro meat, with a wonderful pita and just too much awesomeness. The atmosphere feels a little dated but this isn't exactly a fine dining restaurant so that can be forgiven. With plenty of seating a huge, consistent menu, there's really nothing else you can ask for. The service is also excellent, as the same guy served me all three times and he was nice, helpful, and even gave me an extra pita bread for no charge when I mistakenly ordered the gyro plate thinking it came with two already. Ariston is definitely in contention for the best gyro I've ever had. Being that gyros are something I get a big craving for from time to time, I'll definitely be back to get one very often. Can't recommend this place strongly enough, especially if you love gyros.
(5)Chantal W.
They're good but overpriced. Have no specials which makes me go elsewhere. I prefer Bee's Steak n Lemonade on 167th & Pulaski.
(3)Tiffany W.
Despite heavy-accented drive thru worker the food was phenomenal..gyro and fries. Good grease spot. A tad over priced...so that's why I gave it a 4.
(4)David B.
I've been visiting this place for years. Still fantastic food at affordable prices. Some of the best Gyros I've ever had (try it with their signature hot giardiniera) and their hot dog and fries for $2.59 can't be beat (fries are worth it alone). Fast, good portions, reasonable prices, consistent service, and just good food. If you're into gyro/hot dog/italian beef joints, this is one of the best on Chicago's south side.
(4)Terence V.
Probably shouldn't have burritos in the menu if you are going to give me Louisiana hot sauce. I'll have to try something else next time
(2)Chet A.
The gyros and tacos have always been among the best the area has. The portions are modest but the quality is excellent. They are priced high with no promotions, so the only reason to go here is if you are in the area already. I have worked in fast food and understand that this is not a hub of educated individuals. Still, out of the four employees present, three spoke zero English. One barely spoke well enough to answer my question. I also understand minimum is not enough to afford groceries. However, never before have I seen people eat in the kitchen IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. At least at the places I worked we maintained a good illusion of hygienic cooking. They can't afford minimum wage citizens and they are the most expensive, why?
(3)Craig L.
First time here, we had the gyro plate (of course) a gyro pannini and shrimp basket. I need to report that the gyro pannini was, hands down, the greatest sandwich i have ever eaten. This is a fast food joint. Extremely clean with very prompt and friendly service. Huge menu so something for everyone. I had a friend there who had never tasted a gyro (or any greek food for that matter) he ordered a philly cheese steak sandwich so i cut a small piece off my pannini and he immediately got up and ordered a gyro pannini to go for dinner. You will LOVE this food.
